Who We Are

Susan Moore has one abiding goal – to help clients make sense of complicated financial lives.  Her skill is in creating strategies that carefully and thoroughly solve dual financial puzzles -- how to grow and preserve wealth and then create a legacy allowing wealth to pass to important people and causes. She is the founder and president of Moore Financial Advisors, Ltd., (MFA) a fee-only financial planning and investment management firm in Watertown, Massachusetts, earning the enthusiastic trust of her clients by tackling one financial challenge at a time.

Susan is a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) practitioner and must meet rigorous educational, ethical and work requirements established by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards.  She is a Registered Investment Advisor in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Prior to establishing Moore Financial Advisors, Ltd., she was a financial planner at a firm in Wellesley, MA.  Susan has 15 years experience teaching financial courses in Boston-area colleges and universities. She makes daily use of the counseling experiences and consulting skills developed in professional positions with the health care and information technology industries, providing financial management services for hospitals and other health care organizations.

Susan is a member of the board of directors and past president of PridePlanners™, an organization that provides professional development, networking, and resources for financial advisors who serve nontraditional couples and families.  She is also a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), the Financial Planning Association, and of the Greater Boston Business Council.

She has been interviewed on Marketplace Money (American Public Radio), on WBIX Business 1060 AM about the financial planning needs of nontraditional families, and in Investment News and Best's Review on the financial implications of marriage and civil unions for nontraditional families.  She has also written on financial planning concerns for the Christian Science Monitor and Inside Tucson Business.  Susan has published several articles, and won an award for excellence for an article published in 2005 in the Journal of Financial Services Professionals, “Financial Planning for Nontraditional Families.”

In addition to helping people plan for their futures through sound financial planning, Susan’s passions include a deep commitment to community service and to education – both in working with clients, and in her volunteer activities in the community, including serving presently or recently on three non-profit organizations, and as a literacy program tutor volunteer.

Susan likes challenges.  Ask her about getting her pilot’s license, hiking large sections of the Appalachian Trail, and spending three years as the president of a women’s outdoor skills and leadership program.   Gardening and bird-watching are life long passions.

Susan earned a Diploma in Financial Planning from Boston University, and received an Award of Achievement upon graduation.  She has a Master of Science in financial and operations management, and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and sociology. She has also done graduate work in anthropology and psychology.
